Sustainable Sourcing

We partner with suppliers who embrace responsible environmental practices—prioritizing sustainably sourced materials, reduced-emission manufacturing, and eco-conscious logistics. Our Supplier Code of Conduct and Sustainable Procurement Policy ensure that environmental performance is a factor in every sourcing decision.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Our teams have implemented site-level programs focused on material efficiency and landfill diversion. Highlights include:

  • Full-scale shrink wrap recycling across distribution sites

  • Cloud based, real-time waste tracking and recycling compliance

  • Transition to digital documentation to reduce paper usage for product sampling program

These practices support our goal of reducing environmental impact across all operations.

Energy Efficiency & Green Facilities

In 2024, we transitioned our Toronto operations into a LEED-certified, near-zero energy warehouse. Features include:

  • EV charging stations for staff and visitors

  • Motion-activated lighting and climate control systems

  • Optimized HVAC systems with automated energy use scheduling

  • Roof design collects rainwater  for landscape irrigation

This move demonstrates our investment in infrastructure aligned with Canada’s low-carbon economy.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

We are actively lowering emissions from direct and indirect sources. Initiatives include:

  • Anti-idling protocols for our fleet, reducing diesel use and Scope 1 emissions

  • Efficiency retrofits in legacy facilities (lighting, insulation upgrades)

  • Internal analysis of Scope 3 emissions in high-impact supplier categories

We aim to report progress transparently in future ESG disclosures.

Sustainable Packaging & Materials

We continually evaluate opportunities to reduce the footprint of our packaging. Our priorities:

  • Minimize single-use plastics

  • Source recyclable and compostable packaging wherever possible

  • Collaborate with vendors to reduce excess packaging in delivered goods

Product stewardship extends beyond our warehouse to our supplier partnerships.

Employee-Led Green Action

Sustainability is everyone’s responsibility at Dempsey. Our internal ESG focus is to:

  • Lead green office campaigns to cut waste and save energy

  • Hosts ongoing  staff training on sustainability best practices

  • Engage employees through surveys and volunteer cleanup events

We believe meaningful environmental change starts from within.
